Stuck on the M25

Travelled from Edinburgh to Kent today. We had atrocious weather most of the journey yet it was an uneventful until we reached this spot on the M25 and came to a full stop for 45 minutes owing to to horses being on the carriageway. Just 34 miles away from home and 400 completed.

This section of M25 north of the Dartford Crossing has literally 1000s of horses in fields alongside the motorway and it is a regular occurance for some of them to get out. Fortunately the horses were captured unharmed and we got underway again but there were over 4 miles of stopped traffic. I wonder if the horse owners or landowners are ever traced and held to account as even a short delay on a Sunday evening frustrates eveyone and has a cost for the hauliers who were caught up in the delays.

We were planning a fish and chip supper when we got back but in the end had to settle for a takeout rather than sitting in the cafe as I got to the shop just as it was closing.
