Flowers for the First.....

Happy New Year everyone! Today I have chosen flowers for the first day of the year. I love the lace-cap hydrangeas we are lucky enough to have in our garden.
Mei and Duncan are staying with us for another night. It's great to have them here. Mei cooked a lovely meal for us tonight.
Keith and I visited good friends Thelma and Alistair this afternoon. Alistair was our Mayor for the last 12 years and was very deservedly made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the current New Year's Honours. We had a wonderful time catching up with their family and many friends. It was a day for nostalgia as, in the past I was a Councillor for 27 years.
