New Year's Day
An early start today as we were catching the 0830 ferry from Wellington to Picton on the South Island. The weather was particularly windy in Wellington - I am told it is often like that - and it kept us awake for much of the night.
We had been promised a very choppy crossing but it wasn't too bad. From Picton we drove through Blenheim, Renwick and on to Nelson where we are staying for a few nights. The scenery is very like the Lake District and Scotland and it's the first time I have felt a bit homesick since we have been away.
Settled ourselves in and then popped out for supplies. On the way back we stopped briefly at Tahunaui Beach and I thought this made a good blip for New Year's Day.
In extras is a view from the ferry of Cook Strait this morning when it was rather foggy.
