New Year's Gift of Joy

Back in the '60's and early '70's my Aunt Rose who is now 93, was quite a seamstress. She created clothing for herself, her husband and assisted my cousin and myself with our sewing endeavors. (I needed a LOT of assistance!)  She saved fabric remnants from all of those projects until she had enough to make this quilt. She was a perfectionist and every stitch was done exactly right. Sadly now she doesn't remember creating this treasure and when I showed it to her she said, "Did I make that?". My cousin assured me recently that she has no need for it in her house and I don't dare put it on the beds in my house because of a certain two dogs...I shudder to think what might happen to it. I've been storing it for quite a few years now and I thought that it was time to move it on and let others enjoy it's bright and happy colors. So this morning I donated it to Haven Hospice, here in Gainesville. They were thrilled to receive it and told me that they would most likely display it on a large wall for all to see and appreciate...a wonderful and fitting new home for this treasure. I'm sure that Tia Rose will agree when I tell her and show her this photo. I cried a bit as I walked back to my car.

There's Magic in Everything...if you look closely enough!
