A good innings

I've had this little friend for a number of years now. My friend Ruth gave it to me one birthday many moons ago.

Its been a faithful friend, its kept me warm in bed, its comforted me during illness, helped me through the cold winters nights on a night shift.

Tonight though, he gave up the ghost and the hot water bottle, perished, and burst in my bed! Could have been worse, could have been very hot and I could have been asleep. But it wasn't and I wasn't so no real damage done.

The bottle has gone out but the cover is kept.

Sorry my dear friend who gave me this gift, its had a good innings.
