Llangorse Lake Sunrise

My photo buddy messaged me about 11.45pm last night to ask if I wanted to accompany him to watch the sunrise at Langorse Lake, Near Brecon - and that he would pick me up at 5am!

We got there in pitch blackness, shortly after 6am. It was -2c and foggy. Not long afterwards several cars and vans arrived; they turned out to be fishermen goin out on the lake for the day! The blip photo shows one leaving with the sun making its first appearance with stars still visible.

We got home about 10am. I'm a little tired but it was well worth the effort to see some stunning scenery.

Llangorse is the largest natural lake in Wales. Like the mountain lakes, it lies in a hollow formed by glacial action, but at 154m above sea level, it’s far more accessible.  The island or Crannog,  is a man-made island made of oak, willow and hazel wood. Well over 1000 years old, it now has trees growing on it, but it was probably once the site of a royal palace. (You can see this in the extra)
