Dwindling Light
Feel a bit heavy after the day today. A normal day at the office but for some reason the sadness bit seemed what I'm left wearing coming home.
I've been thinking a lot recently about the nature of compassion and it's place in medicine, the pressures in training to let it ebb, how to keep true to it when it feels too sad or hard. That tension between feeling and performing and professionalism and being human needs revsiting and reinterpreting all the time.
All a bit blue and reflective, this isn't bad stuff, it's just stuff, life wouldn't be life without a kind of blue. The week at work is over for me, family gatherings, celebratory meals and walks and all that this weekend.
