Boxing Day Pilgrimage
What has now become for us a Boxing Day tradition, we went to meet our friends from the walking club for the Carol service at Fountains Abbey.
We joined the Dean of Ripon , who with dozens of others, had made the pilgrimage from Ripon, following in the footsteps of the Benedictine monks from St Mary's Abbey in York who in 1132 founded this abbey, having celebrated Christmas at what is now Ripon Cathedral
.
Carols,
O come all he faithful.
O little town of Bethlehem.
Silent night.
Away in a manger.
Hark! The herald - angels sing.
All sung to the accompaniment of the Stray Brass Ensamble.
Afterwards we did our usual seven bridges walk through the grounds of Studley Royal. ( see extra photo)
Beautiful blue sky and sunshine, but a very strong ( gale) wind. Glad I had plenty of layers on, plus hat, scarf and gloves.
A wonderful end to. Our Christmas.
