Just Opened

Another beautiful winters day.  I popped outside for a mooch .... after hanging washing out.  Yes, we know it's Boxing Day but Ruth goes away tomorrow and needed a few things washed.  I spotted this iris, a pencil thin bud of Iris unguicularis, just waiting to be devoured by slugs or zapped by frost, so I did the honourable thing .... and picked it.  Open within the hour in the kitchen warmth, it joined us at the table after lunch :-)

Gingerbread house to complete, mince pies to bake (Ruth wants to take a batch with her for her friends) and The Mexican Train Game to try out.  Should be a fun evening, especially as we will see what Jamie makes of Father Ted on TV later!
