Diary of an Edinburgher

Christmas Day!

What a great day we had! I had a not-very-good-sleep, eventually, at 1.30am, watching a complete time waster of a Christmas movie, its only redeeming quality being a young Ben Affleck. I'm sure he's embarrassed about it being on his CV. I went back to bed full of hope at 4am, but still didn't sleep.

A phone call for JR from NZ was a good wake up call, and as a Christmas present for JR, I got up and took the dog out - something I haven't done for six months!

Turkey breast in the oven, veges at the ready, then we took Archie up the Hill, and collected Uncle A as well. He used to go up the Hill all the time. We had fun. Well, Archie had fun - it wasn't cold, but there was a very strong wind, which threatened to knock me off my feet on the slippy muddy bits.

JR and Archie went up to the top, while Uncle A and I didn't venture too far up and tried to keep vertical.

Back for a traditional lunch with all the trimmings, and Christmas pudding for afters, though we needed a break and came and opened the presents between courses.

What fun we had opening everything. Archie was very good, and wore his Santa hat throughout (though he did have the odd flurry to try to shake it off). He got loads of fab pressies, as we did.

We're all flat out now, replete. Last year wee Archie was really ill and spent the whole day in his bed, so it was lovely to have him on form.

I hope everyone has had a pleasant day.
