Christmas Eve

We were a bit late up this morning but it was rather nice being lazy and feeling that there was no need to go to work.  After breakfast we did a long walk on the heath.  The group who manage the land had been cutting back some of the birch and gorse to try to maintain the heather.  Cattle are also put out to roam to keep the trees at bay.  They seem very placid but we kept our distance as they have sharp horns!  We returned to homemade soup and sandwiches.

As the sun was setting I ventured out for another walk - the sky was a beautiful pink.  I walked past the allotment and thought of all the hours I have spent up there this year in the heat digging and weeding!  It was lovely walking home in the gloaming watching people put their Christmas lights on and sit down together inside. We've just made some mulled wine and minced pies and downloaded the latest film version of Swallows and Amazons.  We'll watch it later this evening but first I like to watch Carols from Kings.  A merry Christmas Eve to you all (O:
