Good start

I am unashamedly a morning person. However, agreeing to meet Fran at 9am on my first day off, which seemed like a good idea the day before, seemed like a bad idea this morning. However, once walking, all regrets were gone! The Shropshire Hills are truly wonderful and I am completely delighted that we live so close. We walked through atmospheric mossy woodland, over stark summits with jutting rocks and then down through muddy valleys. What greater way to end a walk than with muddy boots, a pub lunch and a pint. My Shropshire Walks book is becoming increasingly less reliable and so I think one of my New Years resolutions is to learn to read an OS map.

The rest of the day was spent packing up and hauling my stuff over to Groove Cottage. I'm not entirely sure why one human being needs so much stuff for one week.

Log fire, book, mum's home cooked food and a nice glass of wine. Perfect.
