Some things shouldn't be easy
Thank you for all the lovely comments on this week's blips - I'm often asked why I blip - and I always reply because it's such a positive thing, this week you've proved that and then some.
With the family all close and supporting each other I made a trip North to Edinburgh today to go and break the news to Mollies long time companion Bill. Dapper as ever he greeted me at the door of his sheltered accommodation with such a smile....
92 year old Scotsmen don't always welcome a hug, but what else can you do, I held him tight and told him she'd slipped away. We've all known it's been coming, but everyone deals with that in their own way, Bill I think had simply chosen to ignore it, not a bad plan at all, but this, and distance, made it a short sudden shock.
We sat a goodly while and chatted of happier times and silly little necessities, i think he knows Mollie is at peace now. One of his children joined us so I knew he wouldn't be alone, and then I made the long trip home.
I'd hoped to get a suitably Scottish blip, but the train travelled mostly through fog, and Edinburgh itself seemed to have been invaded by obese shoppers - Princes Street was a chaotic scrum - I surfaced long enough to grab Wellington in his party hat then went and read a book in a coffee house.
