Ladybird, Ladybird

For some reason there have been very few ladybirds around this season. It’s great to see a couple getting together. Two things surprise me about this shot- how small he is compared to her, and how red her back is under her wing cases. They are posing on daylily flower buds.

I saw a common copper butterfly from a window and went dashing out. It was fluttering rapidly here and there. I managed a single shot of it before it vanished over the fence. See extra shots. Not a great photo, but it shows how pretty it is.
