The Bears
Christmas is coming and the pressure is on . Not,directly,on me but on Chris. My cousins husband died of Pancreatic Cancer and after his death she embarked on a campaign to raise awareness of this awful disease and the early symptoms . She has become an important representative of the Pancreatic Action Charity and has raised significant sums of money for the Charity.
Chris and I have helped whenever we could with her campaigns and recently attended a reception at the Welsh Assembly after turning Pembroke Castle purple for Pancreatic Cancer.
After his death ,Chris offered to make a bear in his memory. These bears are made from clothes that used to belong to the person whose memory you wish to keep and are hand made to individual requirements. Chris also made one for each of his grandchildren. Since then Chris has been taking commissions ,in her spare time, and has now started a small business making these bears. She stopped taking orders so that all the bears would be ready for Christmas and they are all ready for posting. Being hand made and to satisfy individual requirements this is more a labour of love than a money making venture . However when you see the extraordinary letters of thanks that these bears generate I understand why she works so hard making them.
