Rasthaus
Today we drove from Dortmund to our campsite at Konigstein, near Dresden, in the area of Germany along the Czech border that is known as Saxon-Switzerland (because of a perceived similarity rather than a geographical proximity, obviously - apparently it's a nickname the Romantic painters gave to an area they were rather partial too back in the day.) This is a rather cool Rasthaus with a 'Panorama Cafe', just into the former GDR and dripping with Soviet-bloc chic, that Tom couldn't understand my fascination with when we stopped there on-route for a toilet break.
Today's headsong was 'Let Me Roll It', by Macca and Wings, a song I associate now with driving as it was a favourite on the hippy radio station we listened to last year whilst we were driving round California (this sounds great as you're driving into Death Valley but it's okay on the autobahn too!) Unfortunately it mysteriously morphed into the theme from 'Sesame Street' later on, but I'll spare you that...!
