Bottoms up #2

Heavy rain overnight and low cloud in the morning made the decision relatively easy. There would be no final mountain top walk today, but rather, a short slither down to the front and an exploration of Funchal's flesh pots, cafés and shops before a necessary bit of culture touring Blandy's Winelodge. After a few sample tastings, a purchase was inevitable, so we opted for a suitable digestive to accompany our christmas pudding which we hope that Mary will produce.
Our evening meal was a slow affair in our cheapest Madeiran restaurant yet and one of the better ones too. A huge slab of Sea Bass for me, Octopus tentacles as thick as a cricket stump for John. As we walked home in the (rather heavy) rain, we caught a glimpse of the closing minutes of the local football teams unexpected 2:1 victory over Benficia.
