Life through the lens...

By ValC

Restored to it's former glory.

This is the first time we have seen the Great East Front of York Minster for 12 years.
A stunning restoration.
Earlier this year they removed 16 miles of scaffolding.
About 2,500 stones had been cut or replaced by stonemasons.
The Great East Window, is said to be the biggest medieval stained glass window in Europe. It has 311 panes, and is 24m ( 78.7 ft) tall. Originally completed in 1408.
Today, in the glorious winter sunshine, the stonework was glowing.
This makes me so proud to be a Yorkshireman ( or rather woman).

We have had a wonderful day in York. Great atmosphere. Bought a couple of presents, had a nice lunch, and MrC bought me a handbag for Christmas.

Will put a few more photos on extras if I can.

I was pleased so many of you liked my little robin yesterday, and thank you for all your kind comments, stars and hearts.
It seems that the Waitrose Christmas advert is a hit with us all.
