Lights switch on

Lovely time this afternoon at the Xmas lights switch on in Newbury.

We did a bit of shopping and then joined the crowds in the market square for the parade and switch on. C&R could just about see the fire engine /Santa parade on our shoulders it was so busy and then we had the countdown. There was a bit of fake snow blown from the town hall balcony and then I spotted the real lights switch on master - a workman in his bright yellow jacket up a ladder against the town hall with his hand poised on the electrics box. It tickled me with the square packed with people. In this age of Bluetooth, wireless technology and hands free it was great to see that someone still had to shin up a ladder and flick the big switches!!

All good, a quick McDs and then home for bedtime.
