Thanksgiving dinner

The family that was stranded yesterday had a pool in their hotel but no swim suits so they had to go to a huge mall to buy something to swim in….and eat…Fiona threw up in the middle of the night so more sheets and towels had to be requested at 2 AM, Oskar is on crutches due to a sprained ankle,  but all was calm and dry this morning for the ferry ride… for some strange reason all the kids cannot wait for that ferry breakfast that they love!  (Best toast ever!)

Altho we tried to have things ready (all 3 pies were made) the turkey was bought cooked and just needed warming —(it didn’t get warm because we took the plastic bag off of it  -whoever heard of cooking turkey in a plastic bag? )   Had to microwave it.  My fake turkey did just fine. 
Fiona made the menu —I think there were 14 items (and the pies were 1. Besides the turkeys (3) there was gravy, stuffing (all bought, just warm)  sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, squash, quinoa stuffing, brussel sprouts,carrots, green beans, ginger bread, corn bread, lingonberries and cranberries.   Not so simple.    ( I only did 1 pie and the mashed potatoes)   But we’ll have food for days!   Lots of talk of what we’re all thankful for.  some home videos and word games for all after dinner.  and now it’s raining…

Last night on the Canadian news, they were talking about American Thanksgiving and interviewing people to see if “Family could trump Trump”   Political people tried to say yes but I wonder….


I feel a little better but wasn’t up to getting a family portrait,,,and I just couldn’t blip FOOD so here is Fiona who made up a board game to play before dinner with her Uncle Eric.   …More in a flickr set later.....
