And the saga continues

Continuing on from yesterday's blip, Farmerboy got home at 1.20am this morning, after a real whoha with the Maize Contractor.  I awoke at 2am to be told of the saga.......the Contractor arrived at 11.20pm (after two hours travelling to get here), but as soon as he arrived his 210hp tractor stopped, right in the drive at the cowshed, and wouldn't start again.  The Contractor and Farmerboy spent the next couple of hours trying to get it going again, but with no luck.  We lent the contractor our ute to get home (2hours away), and Farmerboy came to bed, only to have to get up again at 4.40am to go and milk.

As the tractor was stuck right in the middle of our driveway, we had to organise with Fonterra to only bring a truck (and not a truck and trailer) to collect our milk.

About lunch time the Contractor arrived back with a mechanic from Greymouth (about 2 1/2 hours away) and had a look at the tractor, only to find out that the electronics were completely stuffed.  This tractor is not that old, so with a cost of approximately $6,000 to replace the electronics, the contractor was not happy.

So to get our maize planted, we lent him our tractor - much smaller in horse power than his, but just as capable when it was driven at a much slower speed.  This photo shows our tractor being driven by the Contractor with his drill.

So, after a very long day, and with a very exhausted husband, our maize is planted.  Yay is all I can say!
