Testing time, and Hooray! It works! That's despite a certain local PC World store staff member (allegedly) claiming that, "it was not repairable." It took about ten minutes to find the fault. Most of that was figuring out how to dismantle it. I found it somewhat strange. Two cables were disconnected underneath the keyboard. One of them being connected to the "power-on" switch... hence the not working scenario. But how would two cables become disconnected under there?

Anyroads, one happy friend of a friend, that doesn't have to buy a new laptop. I wish they were all that easy...
