Still Snow on Arran

7.5C with some cloud in the morning clearing to sunny sunshine. Moderate Northerly breeze with gusts to 31 mph through the morning becoming lighter as the afternoon progressed.

After lunch Apothecary7 and I took Maeve the Deerhound for the repeat of the usual morning walking route across the road and round to the park and the harbour and back along through town. The harbour was very quiet today.

We took Apothecary7's car and drove along to the little car park by the milestone on the Kilkerran road which is marked with one mile to Campbeltown. We left Maeve to have a snooze in the car and we I walked out Kilkerran road past the 68 mile marker on the Kintyre Way then the Goldsmith's house and studio to the NATO jetty at Glenramskill and the Doirlinn and along the road past Davaar House then round Kildalloig Bay until we reached the 70 mile marker out towards New Orleans. Then we took the track along the shore for a couple of hundred metres to have a look at Fisherman's cottage which is a little holiday rental that sits in a corner of a field by the shore under the hill at New Orleans. From there we got the most amazing view to one side of Davaar island all the way up Kilbrannan sound with Kintyre's East shore on one side and Arran's West shore and all of its mountains on the other. The mountains had snow on the tops.

We walked back the way we had come. The sun was dipping below the hills and we could see the start of a lovely sunset out to the West as we got back to the car.
