And then she was Eight

This morning the birthday girl woke up early for snuggles in bed (her little brother gets just as excited as she does on her birthday) and she opened a few presents. Then Mummy and Daddy headed off as I had my first park run event to do! We asked if they wanted to come but between that and staying with their beloved grandparents and getting spoilt rotten was a no brainer.

Hubby and I set off to Saltwell Park in Gateshead as the one in Exhibition Park (the closest) was cancelled today because of another event. We both had great runs and I went under 20 minutes for the first time since I was 16 - hurrah! I was actually very chuffed about that. From there it was a dash to the MetroCentre to collect the pre-ordered giant chocolate chip cookie for Olivia's (second) 8th Birthday party, this afternoon.

Once home and the cousins had arrived the party really began. There were wheelbarrow races (with two real wheelbarrows which Grandma had cleaned especially for the games, bless her!), potato and spoon races which were loads of fun until we realised that Grandad had taped his potato to his spoon (he's always been a cheat at games!), pass the parcel, three-legged races, giant inflatable kerplunk (I have no idea where my Mum gets these games!), football shoot-out and then a party tea which the cousins ate in the den that Grandad had built for them.

A really fun day with lots and lots of laughter.
Olivia we have been so proud of you again this year - you make us happy in so many ways. We were so proud when you sang in the Talent Show. You're a bundle of fun and we love what a kind person you are. We will always love you.
