Nasty Invader
I wandered down the garden to check the strawberries and spotted this German wasp on the bird net over the berries. I wonder if they eat the fruit?
The German wasp was introduced into New Zealand in the 1940s and flourished, with no natural predators, mild winters and plenty of food available.
New Zealand now has some of the highest densities of the German wasp in the world.
My daughter has gone back to her husband and family. I really miss her care and company - and no one can shake a pillow up to ease the sore bits like she can.
