Yellow Rose of ...

I played the guitar a long time ago. We sang and played the 'Yellow Rose of Texas' in a school concert. This was the chorus:

She's the sweetest little rose bud that Texas ever knew
Her eyes are bright as diamonds they sparkle like the dew
You may talk about your Clementine and sing of Rosa Lee
But the yellow rose of Texas is the only girl for me.


Perhaps an odd song for an all-girl group to perform but we were an all-girls school so I suppose that was a bit limiting anyway.
