Hope & Confession

This made me squirm with remembering.

I once, as a teenager, had a party in my parents house without them knowing, whilst they were away.
It got out of hand and people came who weren't invited.
Things happened that weren't meant to happen, including someone letting off Mum and Dad's fire extinguisher in the kitchen.
I wasn't financially able to replace it. So it stayed in the kitchen, offering false hope for a few years in the event of a fire.    :(

So here is false hope - no life-saving ring available.

A better reminder that the only proper and true and proven hope is found in the promises of Jesus Christ.

Elbows went to a remembrance service in another church today where the vicar talked of sacrifice for 10 minutes, and managed to not mention Jesus once. I'm glad Elbows said something gentle but straightforward to the vicar afterwards.
