Niagara 3: Sunrise
We woke to another spectacular dawn here at Niagara Falls. From our 19th floor bedroom window, we watched as the sun rose through the spray from the Horseshoe Falls. It was spellbinding and magnificent.
It was our final day here - again warm and sunny. Among other activities, we took the "Journey Behind The Falls". This is accessed by lift, which takes you down to tunnels bored into the rocks behind the horseshoe falls. This gives access to a platform right beside the falls, at least half way down the cascade, and gives you an incredible view of the huge volume of water which pours over the rocks every minute (34 million gallons, apparently). Further along the tunnels, portals have been cut through the rock to the back of the actual waterfall itself - just a thick wall of water rushing past.
It has been a superb few days and we head back tonight to the UK.
This is another picture which looks best full screen on a black background.
