Lala's Journal

Memory Lane

Earlier this week a new group appeared on facebook called the Lordswood History. We lived in Lordswood from 1979-2015, moving there from London with our two children then aged 2 and 3 months. Names appeared that I hadn't heard of in a while, all reminiscing about their childhood growing up in the area, I even saw a photo posted of my eldest at a birthday party.

My turn! So, today I spent a couple of hours digging through the huge box of old photos and found this one from 1987, the year of the big autumnal storm and hurricane, followed by the harsh winter. This is me clearing our path after our small dog had run out the front door as it opened and gone straight down in the snow, no longer even visible! The icicles that hung from the window sills upstairs went past the downstairs windows, and later that day we watched as a man in the house opposite tried to break them off with a broom and the whole window frame fell out.

We had to go shopping with the children and a sledge. Lovely memories.
