Diary of an Edinburgher

Missed shot!

This morning JR and Archie took a walk across the Meadows with Rufus and his mum. They were heading for a craft fair, then a coffee and probably, cake. I requested a photo of both dogs and autumn leaves. The brief was fulfilled quite well, methinks.

Though the shot that would have been brilliant was missed... They had the dogs beside Greyfriar's Bobby's gravestone. Archie kept chewing at Bobby's little pile of sticks. But at last they had both of them posing nicely. JR was crouching down low, lining up the shot, when she toppled backwards! In her defence, it was slightly on a slope. And she made sure my iPhone was not damaged. What a blip that would have been.

In the afternoon our neighbours were to pop over - they're moving out, having bought a flat. So while I watched the rugby (hard luck, Scotland, good game). JR made an array of tasty nibbles and chilled the Prosecco. Then they said they couldn't come.

We sent a desperate text to Christine and Anne to come to our aid. We had a most pleasant evening, all the Prosecco was drunk (and I didn't have any), all the nibbles eaten.

When Christine and Rufus had gone home, Anne stayed and we watched a couple of episodes of The Crown. I was very impressed with Anne's knowledge of who was who, and what happened next, being American. Then I realised that she was checking Wikipedia on her phone all the time.

More improvement on the knee front. I can now hoist my leg on to the sofa and the bed all by itself! And I can scuttle about the house hanging on to walls, chairs, doors etc.
