Nature's Bounty

After we visited Dunham Massey yesterday we went along to the Walton Lea Project. It is a charity which opened in 1998 to train and employ adults with learning difficulties. With the help of a successful lottery bid they were able to take over a traditional, but overgrown and idle, Victorian walled garden.

They now produce fruit, vegetables and plants for sale in their on site shop and at local farmer's markets. They also make a range of wooden items such as planters, bird feeders, bug and bird boxes. NM brought this lovely trug, the wood re-cycled from old pallets.

We were also shown around the new Garden Room which is a beautiful self contained log cabin that is available for hire for meetings, school visits, courses and private functions.

It was lovely to meet the staff and workers there and they made us feel very welcome. It is open to the public during the week throughout the year and in the summer months it is open at weekends too.
