Cylinder escapement

Spot the differences. Many carriage clocks have  cylinder escapements to regulate the mechanism. These were very popular but not particularly accurate. Worn out escapements were often replaced with modern lever escapements (see extra). There is plenty of information online to describe the technical differences of functioning so I will not bore you here. It is nice though to come across an original cylinder platform although they can be challenging to return to reasonable functioning if they are badly worn.
