Cakes, Council House and Cricket...
set alarm for 6am and was off out on my bike by 6.15am! much cooler this morning, long sleeved top on. did a good 7 miles, and back back home by 7am, starving marvin after cycling past a cafe which had got the bacon on!! still, healthy cinnamon porridge for breakfast, love it!
it's our Cake day today. a regional event which we've had to bring forward, as most of us are out tonight. raising money for our 3 chosen charities, there were some cracking cakes bought in, which we then put on our tea trolley and wheeled around the building. all money raised we can match, through our community scheme, which is mega.
the rest of the day is taken up with our training day (development day), but we had a break for lunch, and i'd arranged for the team to have a free tour of the Council House in Nottingham. most of us are Nottingham born and bred, but none of us had ever stepped foot inside the iconic building in Slab Square.
the picture is of the grand meeting room, used by all the councillors for thier meetings, but now also used by the coroner to hold inquests. v interesting tour, lunch hour over and back to work.
finished at 5pm and then off out with most of the team for an evening of sports at Wollaton Park, first we played rounders (some of us a bit rusty!), and then Mr Pick came up with the idea of team cricket, 3 teams. lots of running around, especially if you're teamed with Ash who can hit the ball and run faster, and has longer legs than me!! think my legs will ache in the morning.
afterwards, we had a meal at The Wollaton, lovely pub and a lovely end to a great day.
