Day 247 - Kings canyon

Named after Ernest Giles (discovered kings canyon) friend with the surname king, is definately one of the best walks I have ever done! Absolutely brilliant. Only 6km but due to it being quite vertical over rocks in places it can take up to 3.5 hours, it even starts with 'heart attack hill' with a defib the top.  Matt toured us around the whole thing which was helpful, pointing out different plants, such as Bush holly and mistletoe, also a plant that is used for medicine. Before we started the tour he told us about these rare pigme koalas, only 17 left in the wild.. Haha absolutely bull.. we came across one of these rare koalas, them only being around 2 inch big, everyone was going crazy taking photos. Turns out the tour guides have a little game going on, and they are just those koala soveniour clip on things scattered around the canyon. I was howling, one lady had taken 47 pictures of it haha! But we did see a Euro kangaroo, and Matt said he has only seen 2 there in all his time doing this tour, so that was special! The first half was near enough all quite shaded and with it being a canyon it was breezy too, to the point I was stood on top of a cliff and my hat flew off, only for it to boomerang around and a guy catch it below! Lucky. Had a little snack stop at the garden of Eden, funny enough we all had apples. Really beautiful, and you feel like a little ant when your down at the bottom of the canyon. Rest of the walk was nice and steady just more out in the open. I couldn't recommend the walk enough! Headed back to kings creek for lunch, ready for the healthy 6 hour drive back to Alice for the night. On our way back another tour bus had run out of petrol, so we hopped out and gave them a hand, they had been there over a hour. Cheeky dinner with everyone, as some leave tomorrow and a night in a bed! Lush
