Someone with a sense of humour has named the 18th hole at Allendale Golf Club "Last Gasp". It's a short par 4 only 222 yards but the first 100 yards is up the side of a mountain, well it's a very steep hill.

I tend to play with the more mature members these days so there is usually little conversation and a great deal of heavy breathing at this point until we reach the relative safety of the gentle slope that leads up to the green.

I can think of worse places to gasp your last but I'm hoping it's a long way in the future and I hope it's not at the end of a good round. In the meantime I will live with the heavy breathing.
