Day 245- Uluru

Wakey wakey 4am. Set off in the search for the big rock. First stop was in a little town called Erlannga and that was the first thing we came across in the first 2.5 hour drive. They had a little emu farm, crackers them things. It is crazy how you can drive and drive and not see a soul. Our driver Matt was a zoo keeper for 10 years and is good with snakes so at least we are in good hands! Haha next little stop was another 2 hours where they had the biggest cactus I have ever seen! Next stop.... camp!! The camp is part of a camel trek, so tonight, not only will I be sleeping under the stars... But with camels haha! So excited. Quick lunch and then went to the national parks cultural centre. No photos allowed here, but was very interesting all dedicated to the aborgional believes and the worship of the rock. Then...

ULURU...
Gee wizz.. abit warm!
But what a experience!! We did the hour and half walk around the whole thing. And then our tour guide Matt did the little extra bit towards the small gorge and it was so special. It was little cave openings where boys used to learn and then there was one on the other side for the girls. Boys wernt allowed in the girls part and vice versa. And still some of the original school work is on the walk. Protected. They made the paint from the different coloured rock and mixed it with animal fat or blood to make the different colours. On the womens side, there was a dark line down towards a huge pocket opening. And it is said to believe it is where the women used to go to give birth. Like when a kangaroo gives birth, the mother licks a line down her tummy so the baby kangaroo knows where to climb up to get in to her pouch. And that is what id believed to be the dark line on the rock towards the big opening. How amazing. Some amazing stories about Uluru and the aborgional people.
We then watched the sunset on Uluru and how it changed in colours as the sun went down. So beautiful.
Finished the night in a swag under the stars
