My Blue Aga...
Backblip
Probably the least said about today the better. Quite stressful.
Alan the electrician came in to see me to flag up an issue with one of the spotlights in the kitchen ceiling. We looked at the plan together and it was at that point I realised the lighting company that has designed all the lighting for the kitchen (I am determined it will be properly lit both for food prep and mood lighting) had designed their lighting plan around the wrong kitchen lay out.
They were using the first draft kitchen layout that the architect put into his drawing as a rough estimate of what might be going in the kitchen. This was way before we had chosen the kitchen company that is actually doing our kitchen and the final design, although similar, has enough differences to put all the lights off centre. I actually felt sick when I realised.
Thank heavens Alan was still fitting the cables and the ceiling had still to be sheeted. I'm not sure what I would have done if it had already been sheeted and the holy for the lights been cut.
I phoned David, who phoned the architect and the lighting specialist and thankfully the architect was able to get an updated drawing to the lighting specialist, who updated his plan and emailed it back to us within the hour.
We literally made it by the skin of our teeth as the lighting guy was heading to a meeting and if we'd called 15 minutes later, we'd have been too late to get the updated drawing.
I won't apportion blame but suffice to say I am angry with everyone, particularly myself, for not ensuring the lighting company had the correct kitchen layout.
On the plus side, my Aga has survived its repositioning.
