Collieston Cave

Productive day today.
Weather has been reasonably bright, mist burned off early on and has not returned. Although, as I type the rain has returned.
I had planned to go back to last night's stretch of beach tonight.
It had generated a number of ideas for some after dark/night shots.
However, the weather had other ideas.
Ideas will have to wait for another night.

This is a late afternoon shot from Collieston. North of Aberdeen.
Not quite as exciting as last night.
The cave is below the main tourist car park outside the village.
A little bit of text to add to ambience of the shot.

The numerous sea caves in the nearby cliffs, and small coves with shingle beaches provided ideal terrain for smugglers. In the late 18th century it was estimated by the Excise that up to 8000 gallons of foreign spirits were being illegally landed in the area every month. In 1798, the notorious village smuggler, Phillip Kennedy, was killed by a blow from an exciseman's cutlass. His grave and tombstone still stands in the village graveyard.
