Hospital Day One
A four hour wait till I was summoned for surgery, but it has to be done. All went well, I didn't even hear any skill saws whirring this time. Though I did see them hoisting my leg up higher than I thought it could go to put a tourniquet on. They waited till I was knocked out last time.
I'm in a very quiet ward, in fact all afternoon it was just me and an old(er) lady and her toy Bambi, who I had to keep waving to (Bambi). Surprise surprise - we get free TV in this ward! I will be able to watch the Bake Off final. Except that I've got loads of better stuff in my iPad.
The menu looks good - possibly a semi permanent one with dozens of choices. It looks like I could choose rice pudding every single day of my stay. For lunch and supper!
However, tonight it was pot luck. It doesn't look the best, but it was piping hot. In case nothing is recognisable - its cauliflower and broccoli smothered in cheese, with carrots, peas and potatoes. Ice cream to follow. And not having eaten anything since yesterday lunchtime, it tasted pretty delicious.
Archie had a lovely time with his new friend this afternoon.
My legs are just beginning to regain feeling. And therefore pain.
Nurse! Bring me morphine!
