Rising Mist
Like a stage effect to cue a dream,
the sodden fields began to steam,
as home we drove
past sward and grove
beyond the ever-flowing stream.

Apologies for waxing archaic in my lyrical verse today - but 'sward' and 'grove' are lovely words, aren't they!
We were on our way home from a library and shopping trip to Plymouth, where we had a delicious lunch at our favourite restaurant, Leandra's. We entered this sudden mist after we'd left the busy A38 and were heading home via the pretty little village of Diptford. After two days' drenching rain and cool temperatures, the windless return of warmth today led to much steaming of damp ground. I imagine we're likely to wake to a fog tomorrow.
