Scotney Castle Gardens

Another lovely autumn day, a little chillier than of late but bright sunshine most of the day. We embarked on the first of our autumn/winter/Christmas activities today with a visit to Scotney Castle Gardens near Lamberhurst in Kent to see the autumn colours.

I've not visited this National Trust property before, despite having lived in Kent for many decades. It was well worth the visit with lots of colouful trees and two mansions. The most recent is in this blip and from the terraces of the house you can see the other, a partly demolished, much older, castle that was deliberately turned into a ruin by the owner to create a picturesque view from the new house.

I'm wondering why the shot from the iPhone camera is much better than the same shot from the Panasonic FX48. This is often the case with views, the iPhone gives a better shot while the Panasonic is better in more specialised conditions.

On the way to Scotney Castle we stopped off to get a further quotation for the planned hobby room in the garden and took advantage of a coffee and scone at the adjoining garden centre. Relying on the sat nav took us a convoluted way to Scotney. It was much easier on the way back.
