Summer's Last Hurrah
Working in the garden today and getting it ready for winter. These bright flowers and ornamental grass with an oak leaf caught in it blades was a bittersweet sight. A bright, vibrant moment in my autumn garden, and these plants reaching for the light and singing their song.
Here are two haikus by Mike Garofalo that reminded me of the garden today.
Pulling up
twisted tomato vines–
long autumn shadows.
In the dimming days–
suddenly Chrysanthemums
open my dry eyes.
