Tissington Tunnel
This morning we met up with our friend from yesterday at Ashbourne with our bikes and had a great ride along the Tissington Trail to Alsop and back, around 12 miles. We stopped along the way for coffee and bacon baps and hoped to dislodge some of those newly acquired calories on the way back which is all down hill so you can give it some wellie. Since neither Mr T, nor I had been on bikes for some years we were very pleased with ourselves.
Once back at the start of the Trail we said farewell to our friend after which we decided to have a walk through the old Tissington railway Tunnel which ends up in Ashbourne and which is quite spooky in places and has sound tracks of trains passing through from time to time making it most authentic. On the way back the tunnel got very full with loud kids, people and children on bikes, walkers and dogs and In a dark area of the tunnel I stepped aside to let some bikes past, turned my ankle on the edge of the raised concrete and went sprawling onto the asphalt. ... Mr T was up ahead so didn't see me fall but a very nice young man helped me up and once back to the bike hire place the nice staff assessed the damage, which was just a very bruised and bloody knee and which they kindly cleaned up and bound up with a huge bandage. I shall be a bit stiff tomorrow together, no doubt, with a sore bottom - no make that two sore bottoms as I'm sure Mr T will have one too!!
