Looking into the predated nest
Today I found this nest of the Common Wasp on my lunch walk. They most often build underground nests. This one had obviously been predated, perhaps by a European Honey Buzzard.
The forest light conditions were not the best - but I'm quite happy with the shot anyway! Strangely enough, the wasps were not taking much notice of me. I wonder what happened to the queen? Might check the nest again next week or so...
Take a closer look at the wasps!
