Bye Bye at Heathrow
Mums last day today where we didn't really get up to much during the day, just chilled around the house before taking her over to the airport in the afternoon.
It was funny driving back over to Heathrow again, fell right back into old habits and drove straight into the "office" lane rather than the terminal lane!
Got Mum checked in, bag dropped off and then went for a coffee and last minute chats. Watched for ages as she went through security, just to make sure she was ok at the x ray machines. Always sad to say goodbye. Lump in my throat as I watched her walk away, you would think after 10 years of saying goodbyes at the security gates to Mum, Dad and friends that I would be used to it by now!
Was really great having Mum down for the past 6 days, we got a lot covered in the short time together and really enjoyed everything we got up to. Looking forward to the next visit in September.
After Mum got through security, I planned to meet a friend for a drink and a catch up. Not seen him for 6 months since I left and was great to see him again and catch up on all the Heathrow gossip/news!
Being back in Heathrow always pulls at my heart strings. I can remember the clearest of memories from the most random parts of the terminals, walking from the car park with loved friends, sneaky ways out of the terminal with my Dad and him commenting on knowing my way about!, life changing conversations with learners, mentors and managers who are now life friends. That place has such a place in my heart, it was way more than a workplace.
Thinking to today, my new chapter has a place within the airport too. The freedom of running my own business will hopefully bring foreign photo shoots, weddings abroad and the opportunity to get back up to Scotland more often. One comment that was said to me - "what happens if your business doesn't make it?" A fair comment, that has stuck with me today. I answered "that isn't going to happen" Thinking of that now, I know that I have such determination, drive, passion and inspiration to travel through this journey and will absolutely 100% make this a viable business. And I can see it growing day by day at the moment from where I was when I started 6 months ago.
PS - I knew I wanted a shot that was something "Olympicy" - think this sums it up pretty well! Also, the new build in the background is Terminal 2 - it has changed so much from my last blip of the foundations being built in January / February.
