North Walney Island

Rob and I have a few days off this week and miraculously the weather seems good. Today we went to North Walney, which is protected as a National Nature Reserve. We had a brilliant walk up the sands to the north end, and spent the afternoon looking for mushrooms! Remarkably, we found plenty and with the help of an expert mycologist saw some really rare wax caps.

We also saw a great mural produced by the local school and painted onto the side of a storage container. It should help give them some pride in this wonderful place.
