Trouble? Moi?

We decided to brave taking the kids to the beach today and we managed okay considering we didn't have grandparent backup. Miss A loved being in the sea but Little D was much more hesitant, I don't think he liked the feeling of the pull of the waves so much. He was much happier running along the beach trying to play with everyone's toys. Unfortunately the other kids were not in a sharing mood and it all ended up in tears.

After lunch by the beach, we returned home so the kids could nap. Miss A has fought this every day with tantrums ensuing, and today was no exception. After an hour's walk and me almost expiring she finally succumbed to sleep and me and Rob hit the pool.

There is a Moors and Christians festival in town at the moment and we all went into the centre to enjoy some of the festivities. Little D was delighted that his new favourite things, horses, were part of the procession and was pointing them out to everyone who made eye contact with him. It was all very exciting, so much so we had to sit down for a wee drink afterwards.

We went to our favourite little square and tried to enjoy a relaxed drink. Little D had other ideas however, and had Rob and I running after him every 30 seconds. He eventually ran into one of the bars and, on hearing the music, stopped in his tracks and started dancing instead. Miss A came in to join him and they were using tables as drums and grooving beautifully to the latin rhythm, even getting the barman joining in on the act. Things got even more hilarous when the barmaid walked out from behind the bar wearing a crop top and tartan mini skirt and Little D's eyes lit up. He looked her up and down and back up again then stood and stared at her, completely transfixed while she chatted to her friend. Brilliant!

Gran, Grandad and Aunty Mary stayed for a drink then took the kids back home so we could have a few more drinks without having to chase children. It was not without its traumas however, as Miss A was in no mood to be leaving us behind and went into meltdown mode. It was pretty distressing at the time but we managed to put it behind us and have a good night. Thank goodness the kids are off on a train journey tomorrow and we can sleep all day!
