These are guelder rose berries.  Guelder rose is a viburnum (viburnum opulus) hence the October fire.  I find them rather wonderful.  Right now they are definitely the brightest thing on the nature reserve by a mile.  However, I promise I'll try not to blip them again this autumn, don't want to repeat myself.

This afternoon I visited my old chap and tried to help him with telephoning and paperwork.  Poor man has some (to him) rather difficult decisions to make.  No prizes for getting old, are there..
