Times Of My Life

Capri

Sailing round Capri, I was quite surprised at how rugged it was.  I had expected gently sloping beaches, full of super-rich sunbathers.  However, apparently the very wealthy stay on their yachts, or in their villas, until the tourist Hoi-Polloi get on the ferries back to the mainland.

As we strolled up the hill to Ana-Capri, where all the proper shops are, I was wondering how on earth they can actually sell a E6,000 winter coat, as displayed in the window of one shop.  Our guide told us that after 6pm when the ferries leave, the wealthy go shopping, and in only one hour all of the designer shops make enough money to keep going.

Ha ha! Take that you super wealthy people!  We only bought a couple of pistachio ice-cream cones, and still had a lovely time!

We met some fabulous people on our tours, not just the knowledgeable and fascinating guides.  Joe and Anne from New York state became friends, as we shared two tours with them.  I was genuinely teary at the airport when we were boarding our separate flights.
