It’s closed!

Such a shock I had, when I set off from the car park in Newcastle this morning knowing I had enough time, before I was to be at a lecture, to stop for coffee, and perhaps an almond croissant, at our favourite café. 

It was closed . . . permanently. The owners have given it up. A sad day indeed! What a difference was this sight from when I took this picture in February.

Could it be that French cafés, French people, are no longer welcome in Newcastle after Brexit – surely not. But it’s a bit of a coincidence that apparently it closed in July!
